Position – Director, Software Engineering
As Director of Software Engineering, you will lead two distributed engineering teams: Marketplace and Core Platform. These teams are central to Logicbroker’s Intelligent Order Network, delivering scalable infrastructure, APIs, and partner-facing capabilities. You’ll drive execution, elevate engineering quality, and help shape our platform strategy. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you’ll contribute to org design, technical strategy, and talent development.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and scale two distributed engineering teams (Marketplace and Core). Foster a culture of ownership, trust, and continuous improvement.
- Delivery & Execution: Own roadmap delivery for platform capabilities and commerce integrations. Ensure timely, high-quality releases through agile execution.
- Technical Excellence: Champion architectural best practices, cloud-native principles, and a platform-first mindset.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, DevOps, Architecture, and Customer teams to align priorities and drive outcomes.
- Hiring & Talent Development: Attract and grow exceptional engineering talent. Provide career development and coaching to engineers and managers.
- Metrics & Operations: Define and track KPIs such as DORA metrics, team velocity, and customer-impacting incidents. Use data to drive improvement.
- Platform Scalability: Oversee design and delivery of scalable services that support high-volume API traffic, partner connectivity, and real-time processing.
- Engineering Culture: Model and cultivate a high-performance engineering culture that values clarity, autonomy, and learning.
- Technical Leadership: Provide architectural guidance on new initiatives, ensuring alignment with long-term platform strategy.
- Security & Reliability: Embed security, compliance, and fault tolerance into engineering practices and platform design.
Essential Skills, Experience & Education:
- 10+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years managing multiple teams and engineering leaders.
- Demonstrated success leading distributed teams building SaaS platforms or APIs at scale.
- Strong technical foundation in cloud-native architecture, event-driven systems, and modern backend development.
- Familiarity with order processing, B2B integrations, or multi-tenant platforms.
- Track record of improving engineering operations via tooling, metrics, and process refinement.
- Exceptional communication skills and experience presenting technical decisions to executives.
- Experience managing systems with high uptime expectations and complex data flows.
- Strong instincts for prioritization, product alignment, and delivering value incrementally.
- Deep understanding of the SDLC, from design and development to deployment and observability in production.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
