EDI 864

EDI 864s were designed to be read by humans, rather than for computer processing. While the EDI 864 was created for one-time communications, some companies opt to it use for regular, communication of particular information not handled by a specific EDI document – such as sharing updated store or distribution center location information.
How do I send/receive an EDI 864?

It is fairly easy for a system to send/receive EDI 864s. For the most part, the transmitting is done through the Internet or Value Added Network (VAN). To keep EDI costs affordable, today most EDI transmission is done through the internet using AS2 or secure FTP, eliminating the need for an expensive VAN. The file is kept secure using encryption to keep the data safe.
